LIST OF 2004 SUMMER RACE SERIES RACES
WHAT IS IT?
The 2004 Lynchburg Road Runners Race
Series begins its third year. This year's series is made up of 5 races. One race
is schedule for each month beginning in May with the Central
Virginia Kidney Association Memorial Day 10K. June is the annual Percival's
Island 5-Mile Race and July is the Presbyterian
Home 5k. August 21st is the Annual
Lynchburg Half Marathon and 5K. The series concludes in September with the VA
10 Miler. Participants score points in two categories; their age group and
overall male or female. The goal of the race series is to help motivate
individuals throughout the summer for the VA 10 Miler and other fall road
races.
WHO IS
ELIGIBLE?
You DO NOT have to be a member of
the Lynchburg Road Runners to participate. To be eligible you must participate
in no less than 3 of the series races. The more race series races you complete,
the more points you accumulate.
HOW
ARE POINTS AWARDED?
Eligible runners accumulate points in two
categories; Age Group and Overall Male / Female. The age of the runner in
the first race they finish determines the age group for the series. Points are
awarded as follows. 1st (50pts.), 2nd (45pts.), 3rd (40pts.), 4th (35pts.), 5th
(30pts.), 6th (25pts.), 7th (20pts.), 8th (15pt.), 9th (10pts.), 10th
(5pts.). Every series participant placing beyond 10th receives 1 point for
finishing the race.
WHO
GETS AN AWARD?
Awards are given to the top 4 overall
male / female. Awards are given to the top 3 in each age group. A presentation
is made at the October meeting of the Lynchburg Road Runners.
HOW
MUCH DOES IT COST?
The 2004 Lynchburg Road Runners Summer
Race Series does not cost anything additional to the entry fee charged for each
race.
